Dinner and Concert  Sunday Oct. 16, 2011

Il Volo

A Sold-Out crowd gave IL Volo a standing ovation after their extraordinary performance at the Fox Theater and then headed to the Detroit Opera House for an exclusive Encore Benefit Dinner hosted by Anthony Rugiero. Participants for this historical event put the city of Detroit and the Italian Community in the spotlight when Italy’s newest singing sensation, IL Volo; three fresh-faced talented teenagers, Piero Barone (17), Ignazio Boschetto (16), and Gianluca Ginoble (16), overwhelmed the Detroit audience with their astonishing voices. IL Volo attended the exclusive Benefit Dinner lending their support for three special charities. Everyone had a great night and enjoyed having dinner with the IL Volo boys. The boys surprised Anthony Rugiero with an Italian rendition of “Happy Birthday”. Thanks to all who provided sponsorship for this event including premier sponsors; Celani Family Vineyards, Soave Enterprises and FIAT North America. This event benefited three stellar charities that serve Art, Culture, Education and Humanity; The University of Detroit Mercy School of Architecture –Volterra Detroit Foundation ( www.volterra-detroit.org); (ILICA) Italian Language Inter-Cultural Alliance (www.ilicait.org) and Boys’ and Girls’ Town of Italy (www.boystownofitaly.org). Special Note: Anthony followed this Oct. 16th event by encouraging and supporting the live performance of IL Volo, filmed for Detroit Public TV at the beautiful Detroit Opera House, where a family home video was viewed for the audience to see while the three tenors sang “Mama” and surprised Mrs. Rugiero with a serenade. The IL Volo new CD and DVD of the Detroit performance is available in March.
