Anthony Rugiero, president and CEO of the Rugiero family of restaurants, was honored with a prestigious knighthood from the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George.
The recognition reflects Anthony’s longstanding commitment to faith, charitable service, Italian culture and the Metro Detroit community. His work extends beyond the leadership of Roman Village and Antonio’s Cucina Italiana to numerous organizations focused on medical research, hunger relief, education, health care and the arts.
In 2011, Anthony established the Rugiero Promise Foundation, building upon the values of generosity and service taught by his parents. The volunteer-led organization supports a variety of community causes and has developed a particularly important relationship with diabetes researchers at the University of Michigan.
Anthony has also worked to preserve and promote Italian heritage through organizations supporting Italian language, culture, opera, education and the arts. These efforts reflect the same values that have guided the Rugiero family restaurants for more than six decades.
The knighthood represents a significant personal honor while also recognizing the wider legacy of faith, family and service that Anthony continues to carry forward.
